On June 29, the drilling process for a geothermal resources survey project carried out by our subsidiary Mitsui Oil Exploration Co. , Ltd.("MOECO") in the Yunosato area of Rankoshi Town, Hokkaido, a steam release occurred and is continuing to be released.
We sincerely apologize for the great inconvenience and the concern this has caused to neighboring residents, the local government, and all other concerned parties.
In order to suppress the steam as soon as possible and to minimize the impact on the region, MOECO is making the utmost effort to bring the situation under control, while consulting and cooperating with local government, national ministries, fire authorities, and other relevant authorities.
Mitsui & Co., Ltd. is also taking this situation very seriously and is providing support to MOECO in an appropriate manner in order to bring the situation under control.
