Mitsui awarded Bronze Class sustainability rating from S&P Global

Mitsui received a Bronze Class rating in the Sustainability Award 2022 by S&P Global, a U.S. organization that researches and evaluates ESG investment worldwide.

In the Trading Companies and Distributors Industry, where we were entered, one company was selected for Gold and two were selected for Bronze. We were awarded the Bronze rating, one rank up from our last year's rating (Yearbook Member), having received top marks in eight specific categories: Risk & Crisis Management and Strategy for Emerging Markets in the Economic Dimension, Environmental Reporting, Climate Strategy in the Environmental Dimension, and Social Reporting, Labor Practices Indicators, Occupational Health and Safety and Corporate Citizenship & Philanthropy in the Social Dimension.
We will continue to strive to provide solutions to societal issues through our business activities, with the aim of realizing a sustainable society.

About the Sustainability Award

Each year, S&P Global evaluates the sustainability of the world’s leading companies in the three dimensions of economy, environment and society, and rates companies with excellent evaluation results in each industry as Gold, Silver, or Bronze according to their scores. The organization publishes a Sustainability Yearbook containing the results.
In 2022, 7,554 major global companies in 61 industries were evaluated, with 75 companies (including 4 Japanese companies) awarded Gold, 89 companies (including 7 Japanese) awarded Silver, and 106 companies (including 10 Japanese) awarded Bronze ratings.
