It is with deep sadness that Mitsui & Co. announces that a Tokyo-based employee unexpectedly passed away during a business trip to Vietnam. Authorities are still determining the cause of death, but have informed us that the employee tested positive for COVID-19 after passing away.

The employee confirmed negative for COVID-19 prior to departure in Japan, entered Vietnam on 17th January 2021 and served a two-week quarantine in Ho Chi Minh City. After receiving two negative test results, the employee travelled directly to Hanoi on 1st February.

Mitsui & Co. Vietnam Ltd. has cooperated with local authorities and the Embassy of Japan.

Our deepest sympathies and condolences are with the bereaved family.
